ARS, Inc. Grants Nearly $20,000 in Scholarship Assistance to Worthy Armenian Students around the World
The Armenian Relief Society, Inc. recently distributed
nearly $20,000 in scholarship assistance to worthy Armenian
students living and studying in 10 countries. The annual
grants are allocated from the Society's Eremian Scholarship
Fund.
The following students received a scholarship award for the
2007-2008 academic year: Liza Baghoyan (Western USA), Grigor
O. Baklavadzhyan (Bulgaria), Hrag Barbarian (Athens), Sipan
Chorokhyan (Armenia), Hayg Hovsepyan (Artsakh), Hayk
Ishkhanyan (Armenia), Serkos Karavanis (Athens), Raffi
Kassabian (Western USA), Arshag Keshishian (Syria), Tamar
Kossbekian (Lebanon), Khajag Kouyoumjian (Syria), Jesica M.
Krikorian (South America), Manoela M. Mikaelyan (Bulgaria),
Loucine Minassian (Javakhk), Luciana Nalpatian (South
America), Rostom Ohannessian (Lebanon), Hrag Pailian
(Canada), Simon Sarkisian (Eastern USA), and Azadani
Yepremian (Eastern USA).
The ARS Inc. awards the Eremian Scholarship to worthy
undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate merit,
financial need, and Armenian community involvement.
Applicants must be endorsed by their ARS regional or
chapter-at-large entity.
"The ARS Eremian Scholarship provides important financial
assistance to these students and we are very proud to
support our future generation," said ARS Central Executive
Board Chairwoman Hasmig Derderian.
Scholarship
recipient Hrag Pailian of Canada appreciated receiving the
ARS educational grant, writing in a thank you note, "It is
with deepest gratitude that I accept this scholarship for
which I will be forever grateful."
Eremian
Scholarship applicants should check with their local ARS
entity with regard to local Eremian Scholarship application
submission deadlines. Complete and recommended Eremian
Scholarship applications must be received from the local ARS
entities by the ARS Inc. office by May 31, 2008. For
