A Centennial Fund

…to benefit the Armenian Relief Society Inc. has been established, and Armenians around the world are honoring the oldest and largest Armenian women’s organization with their generous donations The ARS, Inc. will commemorate its 100-th anniversary in 2010 and, true to its mission, it has established the ARS Centennial Fund to strengthen and expand its humanitarian and social relief programs for the next 10 years.

Relief is the Middle name of the ARS

…and what dedicated relief and empowerment the Armenian Relief Society has brought to our communities over the past 10 decades! During most of the 20^th century, the ARS’s work centered on the Armenian Diaspora, where the Society’s members worked tirelessly to bring stability to a people devastated by the horrific 1915 Genocide by estabishing clinics, schools, and community and social service centers; educational scholarships; food and health programs; and other essential services. Then, on December 7, 1988, the devastating earthquake suffered by the population of Armenia’s North-Western provinces expanded the ARS’s duties forever, propelling the Society into new action and – for the first time since the Armenian Genocide – bringing ARS emergency and operational assistance into the Motherland.

Service to Armenia

…soon grew to include service to the people of Artsakh, who embarked on a struggle for freedom and self-determination. The ARS, Inc. was there to aid hundreds of families impacted by these events, including children, made parentless due to the earthquake and the Artsakh struggle. In the aftermath of the earthquake, and the establishment of the independent Republics of Armenia and Artaskh, the ARS, Inc. found itself again establishing clinics, schools, community centers; educational scholarships; and food, health, and social service programs in Armenia, Artsakh, and later, Javakhk.

Today, on the threshold of its second 100 years, the ARS Inc. asks you to join the hundreds of generous donors who have contributed to the ARS Centennial Fund in honor of the ARS’s past wok and in support of its future endeavors. “With the people, for the people.” That has always been the ARS Inc.’s guiding principle. We now look to you, “the people,” to make a charitable donation to our Centennial Fund so that, together, we can establish a bright and sustained future for Armenians everywhere around the world.
